My partner tipped me off that an 80's and 90's toy sale group on facebook had Forest Families. I joined the group literally to partake in the auction for those. I won and ended up paying 22 euros for them which included the postage too. So a really nice deal considering. The original post included 3 adults, a bear, a cat and a wolf. I especially wanted the cat and the bear and would honestly have paid 22 euros just for them. In addition there was a wolf child and two baby bears.
Then while DMing the poster, they asked me if I wanted "these two" as well. These two were an adult bear and a child bear, both with marker on them. I said sure not thinking about it. Later I realized they would be the perfect test candidates for customization. My partner also suggested I could try dyeing them black! They honestly jumped up to spot 3 of my most awaited critters in the package.
The package arrived fast and turns out it also included a big Simba bear. I don't know if I'm gonna do anything with it, but I already have a few from my childhood so at least he won't be lonely.
After seeing them in real life I'm excited. The cat is just as cute as I thought. I did do a little switcharoo with the brown critter parts (the wolf is the same colour as the bears). Good Condition Bear had a bow glued to his chest and it's neck joint had a little tear, but the flocking of the head was a lot better than the one I owned already. The wolf was in a very good condition, but his head was on a bit loosely. The bear I had was a lot stiffer. I have read online that it varies, I don't know if between production years or depending on how they've been kept. I was too scared to pull his head off. So the wolf and bear switched bodies. The Good Condition Bear is now "Oula", The Old Oula is gonna be dragged up and the wolf will have to wear a shirt. Originaly the Wolf was just a filler to me, but honestly the mold is pretty cool. Kind of cartoony. He's definitely gonna make a character.
